To quote another lawyer, “just because you did it doesn’t mean you’re guilty.” Similarly, just because you’re innocent doesn’t mean they’ll believe you.
That’s why you need a lawyer to help you protect yourself when you’re accused of a misdemeanor or felony in Iowa.
I graduated from Drake Law School in 2017. During my third year of law school, I participated in Drake’s Criminal Defense and Advanced Criminal Defense Legal Clinics.
I take almost exclusively Iowa Criminal defense cases.
What I lack in years of experience, I like to think I make up for with a focus on results. My first aim is in finding a way to make your charges go away, if possible. (I had a 63% rate of my favorite outcomes from January – December 5, 2019.)
If we can’t get the charges to go away, the next goal is finding the least painful sentencing/plea options available to you or to finding a way a judge or jury could get to reasonable doubt.
I see my job as making sure you understand your rights and the options available to you so that you can make informed decisions about your case.
My work-related interests include drafting and re-drafting motions, the intersection of sex-work-related law and the First Amendment, and getting excited about how unconstitutional various statutes appear to be.
Outside of work, I enjoy starting projects that I’ll never have time to finish, spending time with my husband and sons, worrying about dumb things I said minutes or years ago, Oxford commas, and pumpkin curry.
